Water Sanitation and hygiene
This is a new sector proposed for intervention in this strategic planning phase. It is premised on limited access to safe
and suff8icient water among INUG partner communities at about 60%, limited access to sanitation facilities at 34% of the
population and poor hygiene practices such as not washing hands after toilet use at about 35% of the population. The
limited access to safe water, sanitation facilities and poor hygiene practices has led to high rate of water borne and poor
sanitation related disease incidences. Deaths are occurring due to high rate of malaria infection, diarrhea, worm
infection, typhoid and cholera among others. WASH intervention is designed to increase access to sufficient water,
improved use of sanitation facilities and hygiene practices. This will reduce water borne and sanitation and hygiene
related incidences and thus a healthy and stronger population able to involve in productive activities for improved
community wellbeing
